I am possibly going to Elvington on the Sunday,i havent been there before and wondered if anyone has any info on traffic problems, parking, food, drink basically anything to help the day go smoother.
Is the parking on the base or is it a long hike from the car?
Also things to lookout for ,little unseen snippets .plaques .memorials, buildings ,things that you would’nt notice without a bit of background and local knowledge.
Many thanks 😀

The Prom appearance at Castle Howard is usually just before dusk, but I would phone/email HAC for confirmation because I’m only going on what has happened in the past. Also, I have no doubt that the other event organisers in this part of the world will be trying to poach an appearance for their own events.
Breighton’s Black and Blue will be at Sherburn by the way.

If you have a means of transport you can toddle up to Pocklington after Saturdays show and see Charlie Brown fly BM597 over to Castle Howard and back
Do you know what time that is? We’re camping at a site near Barmby Moor, so it’s only a 5 minute trip…..

Hi All
Getting in isnt to bad if you get there early. Getting out again can take a while as there is only one exit from the airfield. Ill be there both days working on the victor crew.

I went to this show for the first time last year and I’ll be there again this weekend.

Well, the area is crawling with history. Just wait until you get on the base and start reading it. A Halifax Mk II wreck we recovered last year was based there with 77 squadron and the Free French were also stationed there.
I’m sure you will enjoy your stay there. I hope to visit there again soon.
Cheers

I went last year and am going again this weekend.
Parking is on base – a huge area of hardstanding behind the crowd line. No queue problems that I’ve experienced although I come in cross-country from the East. Food, drink, trade stalls etc are all much the same as any other large-ish airshow, with a lot of non-aviation stalls and activities. You have free access to the museum – about 10 min walk from the main display area.
That’s about as much as I know – I’m not local and don’t know any history of the site…..
