I’m looking for info on Netherland East Indies AF Catalina serialed Y-52 which was detached to Singapore in late 1941 to join 205 Sqn RAF Catalinas.
Firstly, what version of Catalina was this aircraft? I’ve seen references that it is a PBY-5 (so were Y-38 to Y-73) but I’ve seen a photo of aircraft Y-45 that obviously shows the tricycle landing gear arrangement of the -5A amphibian.
Also, I’ve also seen references to it as Y-52/W when attached to 205 Sqn. Did they carry the letter on the tail like the RAF’s Catalinas?
Any help appreciated, thanks!

Maybe a question you could ask to Roger S. He told me recently that a book about dutch catalina’s is going to be released. If I am correct, it should contain info/pics about all aspects of catalinas which served with the dutch over the globe. I don’t know if this specific cat is mentioned, but maybe he can help. You can always PM him with a question if the other smart members can’t help you. 😉
Good luck,
