Another brilliant display from Surrey’s only major airshow. Some excellent flying from all the pilots in conditions that at times were less that perfect.
Hats off to the Lancaster. Never been buzzed by the Lanc that low before. As he wasn’t displaying, he flew past over the crowd on departure from the circuit. A truely awesome sight and sound. Hopefully next year the whole formation will make it for some nice topsides (with sun please!). Rob Davies as ever was spectacular in the Mustang and the formation with the B-25 was a nice touch. I believe it was one of those great “Why don’t we….” moments between the pilots!
The RAF participation is a good example of an organiser talking to people. A slight jink in the course from Biggin to Eastbourne brings you overhead Redhill – the pilots happily obliged. Wasn’t quite ready for the Jaguar as I heard he was coming over the priory, instead he came straight in form Biggin!
Finally, the Hawk’s display was excellent. Being restricted by the small airfield and the proximity to Gatwick kept the jet really close in for a great display…even if he was stuck with the flat display.

I believe the B-25 is doing some flying from North Weald in preparation
for a transatlantic ferry trip.

Trumper,
‘Grumpy’ is no longer based at Duxford, it moved to North Weald earlier in the summer.
Is she staying in these shores then,i hope so,thanks for that 😀

🙁 What are the future plans on “Grumpy”,when you say departing today is that back to Duxford or to shores far away.A lovely aeroplane and will be missed 🙁

Charlielima – I noticed the Spartan at the back at Cubair’s Hanger, I guess the Redwing was there too undergoing servicing of some sort.
Colin – just noticed that bit of creasing myself! I guess it’s nothing major as that photo was taken way before the flying display and the pilots did give Grumpy a thorough check before flying her. Incidentally, for those of you nearby to Redhill, she was still there this morning. She may be departing today! Unfortunatly I had to go to work! 🙁

Does anyone know why the XV sqn Tornadoo is in hi-viz markings? Some kind of anniversary?

Back of the class for me. I didn’t know there was a sizeable show at Redhill. I’ll remember to look out for that one next year. Thanks for posting. Lovely pics.

I too thought it was very odd that the Redwing was absent, I was under the impression it was based with Acebell at Redhill.

Yes, I thought it was another excellent effort by Alastair White and his team.
Does anyone know why the Robinson Redwing and Spartan were nowhere to be seen?
Also what was the history of that Dakota fuselage before it found TV stardom?

Last but not least a few of the visiting aircraft, along with the ex Aces High ‘Band of Brothers’ C 47 that is going to auctioned on ebay.

Redhill
I’ve been to this show for the last 3 years and it gets better and better each time. The fast Jets Tornado, Jaguar and Hawk were great to watch. Nice to see a Nimrod flypast too! The finale must have been the Lancaster at low level! Thanks to all the organisers and each and single Pilot who made it an enjoyable day!
