That scheme isn’t one that’s ever appealed to me before, but I saw RN201 at Legends this year and was totally smitten.

the owner of TD248 can switch paint schemes at the drop-of-a-hat! Was the repaint sponsored by someone?

The trick is to use water wash paint similar to emulsion very quick to use for film work or airshow requests
then when finnished it just take a couple of days to wash off and clean back 😎

Was lucky enough to catch the ‘other one’ at Wolverhampton last week.

I thought the scheme she was in this summer was only a temporary finish, and the plan was always to remove it and revert back this one again?

Sure I read somewhere it was only a temp scheme.

I think you’re probably right, but it looked as good as any ‘permanent scheme I’ve seen. Are we talking about washable acrylic paint perhaps?

Sanity returns! It quite amazes me that Shuttleworth, who raise thousands of pounds in gate admissions keep claiming they can’t afford to repaint the Gladiator after several years in that Norwegian scheme, yet the owner of TD248 can switch paint schemes at the drop-of-a-hat! Was the repaint sponsored by someone?

Yes that Spitfire looks stunning in that scheme. I’ve always thought that about both in the silver and red scheme. But what sort of racing did 41 Sqn do? Was it international like the Schneider Cup was?

I assume it was postwar.

The Pilot was a very lucky chap when it came away indeed. Flying a convertable Spitfire cant have been fun (driving one certainly isnt).

FWIW I really cant make my mind up about which I prefer, I really like the racing scheme though

Looks likely to have been damaged when the canopy came off as there is a large area in front of the tail that has been resprayed. That’s the only trouble with silver, you can’t match it.

Much prefer these colours to the ones she was in at Legends. Also like the other Spit in a similar scheme with 5 blades. Looks superb.

They look good as a pair and i am wondering if she back in these colours for that reason.

Nice to see her with that rather fetching canopy. Lets hope there’s a bit of blue tack in the rails to help keep it on. 😀

I thought that too Rob. I’m pleased she’s returned to her 41 sqn scheme, looks nice!
