Many thanks for this although I was hoping that the scrappy would realize the value of such an aeroplane. This aircraft conducted the very first jet service for BEA and also was exhibited at Farnborough, it deserved more. There were several items that were key in the nose section ie rudder pedals and several brackets which are not available anywhere else especially not at B&Q !!

Look forward to seeing your sad images, thanks again

Both were scrapped in late June, seriously scrapped! we at GAM were able to see the whole saga across the fence, The Comet was completely destroyed in about 8 hours, despite our willingness to take the noses from both aircraft. It seems that BAA didnt want any complications, took the bull by the horns, and crushed them both over 2 days. The scrap merchants were not local, and very little was saved. As far as parts go for the Nimrod restoration, there wasnt much worth taking off of G-MB before it was scrapped, let alone after. I will dig out some pictures of the final hours!

I have information that both were scrapped in late June. Trying to gain some more on this. I needed several parts from APMB for my restoration of the Prototype Nimrod.

Didn’t know she’d been scrapped, although it was on the cards for a while I suppose.I was under the impression that the nose was going to be saved for a museum. What about the Gatwick Trident, has that been disposed of now too??
