Thanks Spiteful21, I would certainly like to see the others. Any idea when the photos of the P-47 were taken and does it still survive?

Belgrade Museum

Sorry to go off topic Guys but….

Having never been there myself I exist on scrounging other’s pics but in answer to your question Ozplane, yes and here are some pics. They have some corkers

Spitfire
Hurricane
Texan
Storch
F-86
F-84

And a heap more (do people want me to start a new thread with them?)

To those who took the pics, thanks very much. Please add to the tread and identify yourselves, they are appreciated.

I drove past that museum in Autumn 2002. Looked in a pretty bad state. Could make out a Caravelle and a few MiG-21s from what I saw. Everything looked pretty grim.

Spiteful21. Are those shots of the Sealand in the museum on the main access road to Belgrade airport? I haven’t been there since the “unpleasantness” and I wonder if the museum ever got completed. There was a P-47 when I was there in 1984. Did it survive the war?

There’s a lovely story of an airliner asked if they had visual contact with a Shorts 360 on finals ahead of them.

“”Affirrm, contact with one ahead. No, wait, he’s just flown over a trailer park and I’ve lost him”

The original requirement was for a high-performance torpedo-bomber/reconnaissance aircraft with a bomb bay that could accomodate six 500lb bombs or any of the current standard airborne torpedos. First the torpedo requirement was dropped, then the project was cancelled. That was when the design was changed to accomodate the target-tug role.

I like the aeroplane in that pick with hte ASV(?) nose and am planning to make it in a flight sim……so any help on specs (which I seem to draw short on) would be great!

Then don’t make it realistic!
The SB.3 (probably to have been designated AS.4, had it gone into service) was powered by two 1475hp Mamba AS Ma3 turbo props driving four-bladed props. Two were ordered with the first, WF632, flying on 12/8/50 at Belfast. The design proved to be so unstable, and extremely difficult to trim when flying on one engine, that no effort was made to resolve these problems and the project was cancelled before the second prototype, WF636, flew. Both aircraft had very short lives, being scrapped early in 1951.

We have a pair of Sturgeon wheels at the museum, if anyone’s interested in a swop for something more relevant to our museum.

Hi VP

Have you contacted the fleet air arm museum about these wheels? They are usually pretty good.

Actually, the Tucano is nice, but it is a Brasilian design.

Ah now I know, thanks a lot. I thought that was possibly what they were designed as but wasn’t sure.
