Hi all
I visited my parents today and retrieved another lump of the AIB picture archive (two Tesco Bags!) and I thought I’d start with these.
An interesting flypast at I think North Weald.
Haven’t got a clue when.
I’d like to see this today.
More soon

Aussie Mossie
Thanks again 🙂 , I was talking about this crash recently with the old boys rebuilding Aussie Mozzie 😎 , Down at Point Cook airbase, It was my third visit at the time and I need a rest badly 😮 , Hot and windys a killer if you have M.S., I even had a cold suit on but the added weight gets to me on long days at Airshows 🙁 , I have almost pleaded with the Mozz boys for a flyer :p , Ever a ground running example :p , So we can start it up, But they say its way too expensive 🙁 , Static 10 years at least  , I will be there to help sometimes 🙂 , If fit and well, Last visit I worked the Junk mail table for them to help raise funds,I Just talked Mozzie with everybody who came to the table  , And tried con them out of there cash 😀 , Great blokes down at Point Cook 🙂 , Even tell me I can sit in side the Museum in the hot weather(aircon) 😀 , And help out there too, Just talking to people about the planes as they come though 🙂 , If I can do all this I might get a free flight in some thing too 😎 (I hope its one of the stangs  ), Cheers everyone, Tally Ho! Phil. 😉

There was another pic of that formation in Jeremy Flack’s second Spitfire book…

About the pics in the very first post:
If they were taken during a Fighter Meet at North Weald, then it wasn’t in 1986. That was the only Fighter Meet I ever attended and there was no Catalina there and the Sea Hawk was there but didn’t fly (seemed to have problems starting the engine). Those of you who were also there may remember the impressive formation flypast comprising a Northwest B747, first with a C-47 in Northwest paint, and then with a dozen warbirds. Pic here . Also fondly remembered is the Norwegian Convair Metropolitan which no longer flies and is in a museum in Norway…..

Tally Ho
Fantastic stuff Andy 😀 , My favorite is the Mozzie at speed 😎 , Is that the one they lost a few years ago 🙁 , Firefly reminds me of the one I used to climb inside of , While working on a harvard restoration at Essendon airport as a teen 🙂 , Was at back of hanger complete with spare engine on a stand, As young lads we would say the T-6 was not a real war plane :p And always ask when we could start on the Firefly 😀 , But it never happened 😡 , Graham (editor) C.W.D. tells me he thinks it is now with Eddie Kurdziel in Colorado 🙂 , I flew her in the hanger once a week for about 2 years 😎 :p , What was the five bladed job in first photo in front of the F4u  , Cheers Everyone, Tally Ho!, Phil 😉

That was Fighter Meet 1997 and was WV908’s debut in her new colours 🙂
Andy – Swordfish photo – 😀
That Duxford show was definitely held between 1984 and 1986, as LS326 had D-Day stripes during this time.

Good photos, keep’um coming.
Just a quick point though. The RNHF Sea Hawk has appearead at North Weald since. It was during its brief return to the airshow scene ( FighterMeet ’96 ? ), but these pictures definatly weren’t taken then!

Great stuff – keep bunging ’em up, Andy! 🙂

It was the Firefly owned by Nick Grace (previously at Strathallen) and entered into one of the Duxford auctions. Since then it’s been through a number of owners in America and is yet again up for sale on www.courtesyaircraft.com Seemingly it has been untouched sine this time, probably 85/86.

Firefly…
Hi again
this next one is a montage of three prints.
It’s a Firefly Mk.V. Looks like ex R.A.N. and it looks like Duxford again.
I know nothing else about it.
Anybody???
Cheers

Stringbag
We’ll go with 1986.
Can anyone confirm North Weald???
Andy
The background in the last photo definateley looks like North Weald. Not sure about 1986, maybe, maybe not, as I remember going to the ’86 show on the Sunday and it was verry sunny with clear blue skies. I remember as the Sunday was the day of the ’86 World Cup Final, and I used up all my film 😡 , and was heading back to the car when there was that glorious whee-whoosh of Avpin and the 2 x static display Lightnings took off and gave a stonking prolonged ‘unoffical’ display-airfield beat-up before departing….. 😀

I can recall going to one of the Fighter Meets at NW, where there were a number of P-2s in very basic ‘Luftwaffe’ markings, ie the crosses being applied over the previous markings, as in the 1st P-2 photo.

The Sea Hawk was out of action between 1987 and 1989 under full overhaul.
It could be 1986?
