dark light

90 Years ago today

We declared war on Germany and entered the war to end all wars…..

Only 23 remain from those that fought, with 4 of them being at the special memorial service today at the Cenotaph, including the oldest, 108 year old Henry Allingham who served with the RNAS.

Lest we forget indeed…….

Thank you, Firebird. I’m ashamed to admit that the significance of today’s date had completely passed me by. It will not do so again.

23 known surviving veterans. The things they must have seen throughout their lives, the experiences they went through… really does make you stop and think doesn’t it? God bless them.

If ever there was a key moment in World history this was it.
After Aug 1914 nothing but nothing would ever be the same.
As we sit here today we are still feeling the repercussions of that turning point in history.
Lest We Forget

Yes, it is 90 years ago that the big war started. A historical event which we need to remember.
