BBMF model set – Revell??

Just found this on E-bay whilst having a look for Septic’s elusive Robert Rudhall book:

Didn’t know Revell had done kits of the BBMF as well as Airfix?!

as well as three airfix 3 a/c sets i got hold of a set with all 11 of the BoBMF aircraft in. great set with all but the MK1 spit being accurate (the real BoBMF aircraft has a later engine/cowl fitted) the airfix lanc is by far better than the revell one but is not totally accurate for PA474 (note rudder shape and mainwheels) plus it lacks the windows on the fuselage top, the airscoop(?)above the stbd wing root and some arials.
hope this helps(and don’t make me sound like an anorac 😮 )

I got one of these Revell kits off Ebay for a tenner a year or so ago. I have seen secondhand dealers offering them for as much as £30. Nice kit.

Yeah! And a P-51B Mustang, too, and that big Johnny Johnson Spit IX hanging inverted. I always wanted that one…! 🙂

Haven’t been there in ages! Used to get all my R/C stuff out of there. They had an impressive number of R/C Spits hanging from the ceiling, along with a Tiger Moth, Ju88, and an SE5a among others!

NEVER seen a Revell BBMF set before now, though!

Hey , remember the big Red / Silver Dakota that hung next to the huge Ju88 !! , they still have a load of impressive models hanging from the ceiling , nice stuff .

Another “arty” pic of my Lanc, alongside another big Avro… Sorry its a bit out of focus – took it a while ago before I realised how the “Macro” function worked on the camera…

Nice Lanc. I got the set for Crimbo and have only built the Spit so far. It’s just the old Mk1 kit with new decals.

I built the Airfix version years ago. Was pretty pleased with it then!

Never seen a Revell version of it before!

I have the Airfix collection. The Lanc is nice, but the Spit and Hurricane are pretty mediocre kits.
