Kemble air show cancelled

Have just received this from Glen Moreman, organiser of the Kemble Air Show:

You all may wish to know that the Flying Display scheduled for September 12 at Kemble Airfield has had to be cancelled. The financial constraints now placed on organisers along with escalating costs and poor attendances over that last 2 years has forced us to make this difficult decision.

The event will now take the form of a fly-in with free admission. The plan now is for all hangars and operators at Kemble to open their doors so that you can see what we all get up to.

I just hope the “sit outside” brigade that were evident in many of the small events held at Kemble over the years are happy with the results of their work.

Nice one you selfish idiots 😡

Errrmmm, well i havent sat outside Kemble but if people sitting outside the airdisplay make the difference between the display being viable or not i suspect there were deeper problems anyway. If these people did’nt sit outside the odds are they would’nt go in either.
Not alot you can do about it,you can’t base your financial business [assuming you are refferring to the financial side] on people that arent effectively there, the problem is that you need to find out what would get those people to go in.

😡 Oh dear another display bites the dust,i wondered if it could be ressurected as a once every 2 – 3 year event so that savings could be built up and participants from a larger area sourced to provide a sweetener for people to travel,Vulcan for example if it gets airbourne.

Sad news but hardly surprising. The local area must have reached saturation point in terms of airshow attending opportunities at Kemble and with Fairford only around 15 miles away.

Probably not, since VETA was not owned by Delta Jets.

ooer Mrs…

Heard a rumour yesterday that Delta Jets was for sale. Would this also explain the sudden exodus of Hunter T7 G-VETA to North Weald?
