Does anyone know how the restorations are running for HAC. On their website you can see that there are several projects which should be completed soon. They say that they will complete their restorations of a Hawker Fury MKI, Hawker Nimrod II, Bristol Fighter F2b and a Yak 1 this year.
This would mean a major boost to the warbird population in such a short period for the UK. But I have great doubts that HAC will be able to let these 4 planes fly by the end of the year.
See this link on their webpage:

Can someone give some info (pics maybe) of the progression made on these projects.
Thanks,

Go to the HAWKER RESTORATIONS web page and click on “current projects” There is a photo diary of the YAK-1 restoration. I have really
enjoyed watching the progress over the last few years on this project.

I think your waiting could come to a end soon. With this amount of Kestrel powered planes almost ready, a Kestrel formation is just waiting to happen! 😉
Isn’t that a GREAT Idea for the Legends in 2005?

We are still waiting a two Kestrel formation despite many years of oportunities though. 🙁 Still, it’ll be great when it happens.

Thanks a lot Chris. Yes, the two Nimrods in Formation with that Audax would be great. But What do you think about this possibility for the future?
A Formation with:
– 1x Hawker Audax (G-BVVI) from HAC
– 2x Hawker Nimrod (G-BWWK + G-BURZ) from TFC and HAC
and
– 1x Hawker Fury (G-CBZP) from HAC
– 2x Hawker Hind (G-AENP + G-CBLK) from the Shuttleworth and HAC.
together!
Wouldn’t that be a magnificent demonstration to represent planes from the early thirties with the superb Kestrel engine! 😎 The thought about that sight and sound makes me feel al warm! 🙂

Well, at duxford last week i could see in one of the buildings behind the hangers (63 or 66 i think) complete upper and lower wings, Fin and tailplane of what is probably their new Hawker Nimrod. There was also a 1:48scale model of said Nimrod with corresponding colours in a glas case in the window. The fuselage was not present but i’m sure it’s not far away. Also, judging by how complete the components looked i wouldn’t be at all surprised if it flew this year.
Good work, can’t wait to see two nimords together! Maybe even their Hawker Hind and the shuttleworth example… hmmm, lead by their Hawker Audax! Will be a great site when it happens.

Ah, finaly something. Thanks Eddie. So you think the Bristol could indeed be ready by the end of 2004. Its good to hear that they already have advanced to the stage of placing the engine. That is good news. Maybe some show in the UK could bring the 3 airworthy examples of the type together. A nice thought for Old Warden I believe. 😉
That leaves questionmarks for the Hawker Fury and Nimrod plus the Yak 1.

The last I heard, the Bristol Fighter was at Skysport Engineering having the engine fitted – so I guess that means it’s pretty close to being finished!

Nobody knows something about this. Is this such a difficult question? Is HAC making such a secret of its restoration projects? Any little bit of info can help!
So where is the expert?
