Seeing the various photos of the French Electra is a great reminder that the U.K really needs an example! Sidney Cotton and his work with the type really
gave the U.K a head start in the photo reconnnaisance fight against Germany.
Surely the former Cotton machine still flying in the U.S should be targeted
by a U.K museum/collection ?

I seem to remember the aeroplane in the US being registered N12EJ and being up for sale in an airworthy condition a couple of years ago. It is the original G-AFTL as opposed to the example at Legends which was originally G-AGTL although both ARE original Cotton aircraft.

I believe your right JDK . Certainly the U.S machine was used by Cotton prewar and still has some of the features he installed.
It would have been a nice tribute to his work if it (the Electra) could have flown in formation with a couple of PR Spitfires.

Er… IIRC, the example at Leg Ends was owned by the great Aussie (after the war?)
But it seems at times thet Sidney owned all the survivors – rather like “Byron Slept Here” … and “here” and “here”. (Not that he ‘slept’ much.)
