Was it pulled?
Other news is that Halifax LV905 (just off the production line before Friday the Thirteenth LV907) is to be recovered by the Dutch AF. Another case of private individuals kicking things into gear. The local authorities gave permission after the go ahead was decided on by only one vote difference.
No date is known as of yet, but it’s great to know that some more missing people will be given a proper burial.
Just thought you might want to know.

Hello,
Geoff Peterson here, Nephew to Sidney Peterson Navigator of LV-905 Halifax.
Just wanted to answer a few of your questions.
The wreckage is aproximatly 4m under the soil and in two large pcs. The main fusalage is located in one area and the tail section in another.
There have been images taken by the Dutch authorities showing the remains of the Halifax and some may be shown on the web site dedicated to LV 905.

There is an article in the UK ‘Daily Mail’ today that reports the the small Dutch town near the crash site voted at a council meeting to spend the £170,000 needed to excavate the site and recover any remains of the missing crew. They had been asked to do this by some of the relatives. Werkendam has only a population of 24,000 but they voted to spend the money to honour the debt they owe.
It says that Britain might be asked to contribute.

Great news that the Halifax will be recovered and the airmen given a proper burial by the way.

Cees,
Is the Halifax in a lake or under the soil? Is there any chance it is in restorable condition?
What was the Mustang transport thingy? I have visions of a cross between a P51D and a C47, lol 😉
