Can You Help Me Identify These Raf Medals

I have bought an old RAF jacket with a medal bar on it.

I’d be grateful if anybody could tell me what the medals are and particularly what the rosette was for. Here is the link:

Thanks in anticipation

Do you have any history on this jacket?

Is that a rat or a fish I smell?

Tis the same picture even down to the identical loose thread, bottom left of pilot’s brevet.

Not convinced the epaulettes belong to the jacket either – alot cleaner and brighter than the rest of it.

I bought it at an auction in my local town.

Do you know precisely what type and style of uniform you would be looking for? Armed with this sort of info and a bit of time you could probably find what you need on a “well- known internet auction site”

Cheers

Ian

PS A thing a bit of tarnish add character!

First one, OBE (Military) 2nd type. BEM ribbon very similar.
Second one, 1939-1945 Star.
Third one, Africa Star. Clasp North Africa 1942-43, which is denoted by a silver rosette on the ribbon alone to RAF personnel.

Corrcet, there were three clasps (detailed above) which could be worn with the Africa Star. From memory only the North Africa 1942-43 would be eligible for the RAF.

Yep, first is an OBE. The orther two confirmed 39/45 star and Africa Star…the rosette would apply to a region or campaign (for instance the BoB clasp attached to a 39/45 star)

OBE?, 1939-5 Star, Africa Star (rosette would indicate one of the clasp entitlements, either 1st or 8th Army, or North Africa 1942-43
