Wings and strings photos

Hi

Here are my photos from Wings and Strings yesterday. They are not that good compared to DaimenB and MOFT etc but they are my first attempt.

Anyway here they are.

It’s a Hind. I assume it’s the Shuttleworth one as I don’t know any others. At least, it was supposed to be a Hind.
I posted details of the display on another thread.

Thanks for this info dhfan!

Daimen I think it has to be the best day out I have had in ages the daytime event was good on its own but then the nighttime stuff was just the best thing I have been to in ages.

The flying was top and the Gants were fantastic the music was very good not my normal sort of music but it was excellent and the fireworks were just the perfect end to it.

The last bit after the flying had finished and they were playing “land of hope and glory” with loads of fireworks going off was very atmospheric.

The only problem I had was the camera was not 100% setup right as sometimes when I pressed the shutter the lens started zooming and would not take a photo unless I turned it off and then on again.

Does anyone have any ideas how to stop this please ?

I posted details of the display on another thread.
“Hawker Hind,
RR MkXIX Spitfire and a Mustang,
Hawk x 2
VC10 and 3 Jaguars,
Hunter,
5 x Spitfires, arrived in formation – nice,
BBMF Lanc and a Spitfire,
BMI Fokker 100,
RN Lynx pair,
Tornado F3,
Falcon parachute drop (apparently – I didn’t see them),
Sea Harrier,
DHL Boeing 757,
Gnat,
Red Arrows.
No ID’s on anything. I wasn’t expecting a full display programme so no bino’s or SLR.”
I hadn’t seen the two Gnats together.
I’ve got a couple taken on a 3 megapixel point’n’shoot which haven’t come out too bad. I’ll tweak ’em and post them later.

Intresting pictures Andrewman. But can someone tell me which biplane(type) is pictured on the last photo of Andrew’s hird post? Looks like a nice plane to me. Could it be TFC Hawker Nimrod or am I wrong?

Was a very good day out but I got carried away today and went running off down Sainsburys and spent just over £20 getting them all processed on the 1-hour thing

Thats the spirit, youthful enthusiasm. It will wear off so enjoy it while you can.

Thanks MOFT.

I was using my new 35mm Minolta SLR but its so much more advanced and powerful than anything I have used before its taking some time to get used to. Plus its my first ever go at photoing flying aircraft.

Robbo that 747 was very impressive I live on the flightpath to East Midlands so we get plenty of airliners flying over but nothing like that.

We all have to start somewhere and these are a good way to begin your piccy posting career. Keep posting and if you want any advice just whistle. There was no-one else there so you appear to have an exclusive.

MD-11 shot looks nice.
