I vaguely remember from my days at RAF Swinderby in 1978 that one of the hangars housed a Spitfire, Hurricane and a piston Provost. There was also a Canberra outside. Does anyone know what happened to these aircraft, is the Spitfire now flying ?

Swinderby
I was at Swinderby in 78 also and recall the Mosquito, Piston Provost, early Jet Provost (possibly the prototype) in the hangar. Iwent on to Air Traffic Training at Shawbury. Can I ask the other 78 veteran what flight were you on and what trade?

No idea about the Hurricane, Spitfire or Provost, but I think the Canberra may have been PR7 WT520 (8184M). Source – Vintage Aircraft Directory, Gordon Riley, 1985.
If you mean the old drill hangar, when I was there in 1989/90, there was a Lightning sitting in the corner whose identity I don’t know, and the gate guard was Vampire T11 XD506 (7983M). The book also lists the RAF Museum’s Mosquito TT35 TJ138 as being at Swinderby in 85.
