Bostons and Havocs

Does anyone know anything about the Boston rebuild in the UK -chatting about it over a pint last night – any ideas?

Also heard that Tempest Two have Sturmovik – being built for static use at Hendon – any news?

Look for material, including photos, about the Douglas Boston-Havoc UK Preservation Trust located at Leicestershire in the Crowood Book “Douglas Havoc and Boston: The DB-7/A-20 Series” to be available in late June.

That A-20 effort consists mostly A-20G s/n 43-9628 with other material gathered primarily through trades with the RAAF Museum. Mr. Richard Nutt, one of the principals in the Trust, was very helpful in providing material about the restoration effort for the book.

Steve Milnethorpe who singlehandedly rebuild a Hurricane (see FlyPast for more infor on that one) is working on a (or this one) Boston/Havoc. At least that’s what he told me last year.

The UK desperately needs one to fill a huge gap.

Hi Texantomcat

I had heard that some of the material retrieved from PNG for the two Boston restorations that occurred was later aquired by a group in the UK. A lot of material was retrieved over the years and I am quite sure 3-4 more machines could be produced. one magazine article has suggested that Boston surplus parts were/are available on the market from the RAAFM Point Cook.

One restored Boston is in the RAAFM and the other is at RAAF Amberly awaiting a home for it in PNG.

Kindest regards
