Shawbury Horsa project

managed to have a quick look around at the Horsa reconstruction and the Dak whilst I’ve been at Shawbury this week.. unfortunatley none of the chaps involved were there so didnt get the full tour.. maybe next week!

anyway, just to let you know the Dak is looking pretty good.. its been painted in a suitable scheme and is now just about set to have the wings and engines refitted.. as I’m sure you’re aware this is an a/c that Air Atlantique donated to the project… looking around it and talking to one of the blokes involved with the painting, it was in pretty good nick once the numerous coats of paint had been removed…

the Horsa fuselage looks like it neds a fair amount of work still, however they have done well on producing lots of bits off of the aeroplane so there are a few big ‘lumps’ waiting to be fitted.. they’ve also produced a few parts for an organisation in the USA which I believe they are going to swap for bits to complete a Waco glider..(??)

oh well only another 7 weeks on my course, so if i find ut anything more I’ll let you know. i’ll also have to fit in another trip to Cosford I suppose!!

and dont you lot ‘talk’ a lot! its going to take all of my weekend off to catch up on whats happening..

You could ask for the disposable camera that’s (not) whipping around…
