Hi all
I have located photos from a previous conversation about Special ops Mossies based at Narromine NSW Australia during the war. If you will remember we discussed the subject and the machines were a “secret weapon” deployment to be used to deliver Barnes Wallace bouncing bombs against the Japanese warships. The idea was canned by the yanks who thought the japanese may have copied the technology and used it back on their warships.
Anyway I was wandering around Narromine 30 years ago and on a farm I came accross one of the Mossies that had been removed from the base and used as parts for tractors etc.
A year or so later I heard it had been collected by someone from Queensland. Well on Sunday after 30 years I saw one of the engines sitting in a Museum at the Caboolture !!! Complete with 4 blade hub !!!
Some piccies of the Narromine Mossies and the Caboolture engine and hub can be found hereunder or at

The page is called mosquitos 618 sqn narromine 1

Hi Anne
Thanks for your input
Definately tracked back to a particular 618 Mossie based at Narromine and then stored on a property east of Narromine (Called “The Angle”) – 4 Blades were the norm at Narromine as per the photos – The info comes from a very good book written by David Vincent.
I will supply the serial etc when I get home.
Kindest regards

Hmm. Interesting but four bladed props were used on a number of marks of Mosquitos and Sea Mosquitos. Although I’m not saying that it’s not from a 618sqn Mosi…it’s just more likely that it’s form some post war variant.
