Ladies and Gents,
Firstly as a new poster, but a viewer for some time, I’d just like to say that I’m constantly blown away by the depth of knowledge and standards of photography that are so regularly displayed on this forum.
Anyway – to the subject of this post. Does anyone know of the situation regarding the Magister at Strathallen ? Was in the area the other day and dropped in with my son to watch people jumping out of planes ” like Dad used to.” Peeked through the crack in the hanger doors and to my surprise saw an intact Miles Magister. Had heard rumours that it was still on site, but did not expect to see it standing on it’s own wheels. So, does anyone out there know, When did it last fly, Who now owns it, and is there any word of it flying again? – The last time I saw it in the air was when I followed it in the circuit at Strathallen at what must have been one of the last Air days that they held there back in the mid / late 80’s – a lovely sight !

I also remember a Maggie at East Fortune – and I think it was abot ’98. I’m pretty sure I have a photo of the one that flew in that year. Will try to look it out.

Last CofA expired July ’98, so either :
1 It wasn’t this one (possibly the Breighton one?), or
2 It was considerably more than 3 years ago!
It probably was considerably longer then 3 years ago , I must be aging faster than I should be !! . I think it was a certain Mr Pollock who last displayed her – there is no longer a reply to mail from Strathallan House , maybe worth asking elsewhere what the plans are for her ???

The Old Warden one is in similar colours to this one. However I’m not sure they would let it travel that far as its non radio.
Welcome to the Forum by the way.

Managed to get one (rather poor) picture through gap in doors – couldn’t gain access to hanger unfortunately.

Loosehead, it might be worth dropping a PM to ‘Hairyplane’ – he’s a fount of knowledge for all things Miles and a jolly nice chap to boot.

It’s CAA registration (G-AHUJ) has been cancelled as ‘permanently withdrawn from use’. I presume it’s now in store at Strathallan, and thankfully under cover.
