Hi all
Things from the Antipodes have been a little quiet on the forums of late so I thought I would show you all a few of the sights around Brisbane , Australia just to show you that we aren’t all taking it easy down under.

3) Warbirds museum at Cabolture airfield

Hi
Guido Zuccoli – The inspiration behind the restoration of the Fiat was a very passionate man about his aircraft and as a result the Fiat reflected a little of the passion in the new paint scheme it now wears- It was also used in a Film shot near Newcastle NSW and I think that this probably is reflected in the color scheme.
I will post a before and after shots on a further post in a few minutes as well as some Boomerang shots as requested.
Kindest Regards

Thanks Setter. The fiat looks stunning. I don’t believe it wears a authentic sheme, but I like it anyway.

Well, at least they’re safe, dry, undercover and not stuck up on a pole!

Aussie warbirds
Setter, thanks for posting some shots of warbird’s from the other side of this big country! The Zuccoli Centauro, in particular, looks magnificent – so what if it’s not 100% accurate! Some shots of the two Boomerangs would be much appreciated!
And of course you have that beautiful Lanc and an Me109 in original paintwork.
Don’t forget that there are two Lancasters here in Australia. The other is at the RAAFA museum at Bull Creek. This was donated by the French in the 1960s, and stood outside at Perth airport for a good few years. It has been put under cover and well cared for in recent years, and seems in excellent, largely complete (internal as well) condition. The port inner engine has been restored to turn over (not to “ground run” as claimed in some of our favourite monthlies!), and the guide at the museum I spoke to a few weeks ago claims that the aircraft is in far better overall condition than G-George in Canberra, whose recent restoration, he claims, was largely conservation and cosmetics.

more than one Demon in Australia
Hi all
There are in fact two Hawker Demons in Australia.
One was recovered from Tasmania many years ago and another which I am a little hazier on is also undergoing a somewhat prolonged restoration to airworthiness here in Queensland and that is the one to which I was referring as it is in Queensland at Caboolture Museum. Jack McDonald was doing the restoration but it has not progressed much in recent years and I would dearly love to see it restored and flying.
The first aircraft was restored many years ago and is on display at RAAF Museum Point Cook I believe. It is a beautiful machine and really looks the part.
I have included photos of both aircraft.
Kindest regards

Phew, didn’t realise there was quite so much down there! That’ll be another destination being added to my list then, along with Malta 2005, Reno 2006… 😀
Hawker Demon? Interesting, I though K8203 at Skysport was a sole survivor? Do you have any more details of this one?
Ta,
Steve

Well done, great post!
There is a Spit, CAC Sabre, Hunter, F28-1000 and a few others I can’t remember at the Aviation Australia training school on Brisbane airport.
A little hard to get to but the Sabre is worth a look.
