If you’ve got your Grace Spitfire Supporters Group newsletter through the door, you’ll know what I’m talking about.
But if not….
Apparently, for the D-Day anniversary celebrations, ML407 will have her full stripes applied. Pity there’s no airworthy German bombers in the UK, as I’d love to see the first D-Day kill re-enacted! 😀
Looking forward to seeing some photos from somewhere, as I understand she’s not going to be at Leg-ends this year 🙁

I’m pretty sure ‘407 has had a few engine related problems, one of which kept her grounded for the best part of a year, IIRC. Something to do with metal in the filters?

A pity that Johnny Houlton is no longer around to take the controls again for the D Day airshow, like he did over Normandy on the 50th. I recomend his book by the way, Spitfire Strikes. A good read.

Is a certain Mr Denney doing the stripes?
Just wondered.

Looks like engine problems to me 😉

I dare them to get out a brush and a couple of cans of paint and slap it on just before sunset on June 5.
Then again, other than people like us, everyone would complain that it just looks sloppy and not authentic!

Is it going to be done the correct way, that is, very crudely with brushes and without masking tape as per orginal, or like all D-Day painted machine today, looking too nice with masked off stripes that are sprayed on?;) 😀 😀

That’s what she was all masked up for on monday then.
