During the war Meccano released a Dinky Spitfire in a box with a little ring throught he tail, i presume to wear on somekind of necklace.
It stated on the box that all money will go to buying a Spitfire.
Was enough money ever raised?
If yes,
What Spitfire was paid for by the fund?

Indeed Ian, AD554/BEXLEY is also missing.
Mind you trying to work out what Spitfire on No 131 Sqn. carried what name is a nightmare.
Geoff.

That looks just like one of the ones my father has bought from ebay.
I don’t know how many colour varieties there are but he has green & red.

Another thing of interest to do with Spitfire funds is this lapel badge which was apparently given out to subscribers to the funds, as an incentive/free gift. I think only in Britain.
G’day sport.

It doesn’t have EN830 either which was Chislehurst & Sidcup, eh Von Perthes ????

It doesn’t mention Dinky or Meccano, and it doesn’t have any of 485 Sqn’s presentation aircraft or that one called “Graham Heath’ as mentioned on my thread here

But it is a very interesting and long list – many potential models there.
