I managed to stow away on a Cessna 206 camera ship session just before the Wanaka airshow and snapped a couple of shots through the side window. They will not be anything like as good as the pros efforts but give an impression of what a wonderful opportunity it was to get close to the Spitfire over such magnificent scenery. The Spitfire pilot was Nigel Lamb and I extend my thanks to him , Xavier Meal and John King for the invitation.

The second shot has caught the light on the prop and leading edge just right. Great shot.

Happymeal happy with Mark V
Hi Steve,
seems you made it back OK from MiddleEarth !
Still have not found that missing film of the Spitfire shoot… but what came out of the 1,5 rolls I managed to keep in my pocket is very nice. Email me private and I will send samples…:D

Thank you all for your nice comments. There may be one or two other interesting shots from the Wanaka show in the camera, I will post these later in the week.

Nicely done Mark. You’ve got a great record there of an experience I’m sure you’ll always treasure.
John King is one of New Zealand’s leading aviation photographers and has had much published in calendars and books, as well as magazines.
I hope that you had a wonderful experience in NZ and that someday you’ll return again.
