Robbo,
Something to do with 10,000 pms about some Spitfire. Dunno why?!
Sorting now…
Ageorge –
I’ve got a feeling that it COULD be a copy of a Westland advert – you know: “Lysanders are doing sterling work in France – Aren’t we a lovely company, remember us for all your aircraft needs after the war…” kind of thing. Have a dig around on the web.
Cheers
James
Off to sort out some pms. “MH434? Beats me why someone would want ANOTher book on the spitfire…” Disappears into the distance muttering

Hi,
Heffers is an old established Cambridge bookselling firm. (Bought by my old employers, Blackwell’s, a few years ago now, (1999) an old established Oxford bookselling firm…) They also did art supplies. Heffers is the price / retaillers label for the board therefore.
Not a lot of help on price!
Dated 1941, the roundels indicate pre-war colours – though the upper wing roundels are ‘wrong’.
Cheers
James

Young lad just started work for the same company as me , I was chatting to him and mentioned I was interested in aviation – he immediately mentioned he had some stuff belonging to his great-uncle and brought this painting in to show me . The painting is by N.Cloke – who apparently was a Lysander pilot too , it is painted on a Whatmans Colour Sketching Board sold by ” W.Heffer & Sons Ltd , Sidney Street , Cambridge” . That is all I know about it at present but I should have more details tomorrow . I want to buy this painting , and another similar one but I would like to find out a reasonable price ?? , I don’t want to be seen ” ripping ” somebody off , I will pay a fair price – but what is a fair price ?? , over to you lot !!.
