It wouldn’t hurt to do a bit of research before adding photos to an article.
I noticed in Flypast’s article about Irish Air Corps Spitfires that there’s a photo of a two-seat Spitfire taxiing, which is labelled as IAC 163, which was TE308.
It’s bloody PT462 in the photo!!! 😡 Not even an ‘original’ two-seater, either!

An article about the Spitfire?………in Flypast?………there’s something unusual.

Umm i thought the warbird survey was another pulled from the database.. the same missing aircraft it has always had, some obvious ones put in and taken out 🙁

just feeling very strongly about the incorrect photograph
I quite like PT462 (fogiving the odd paint scheme that many others grip about! ;)), but you’d figure that one of the UK’s best-selling classic aircraft publications would get just that one tiny wee detail correct!! 😡

Daz – “Bloody PT462” – Bit strong, just feeling very strongly about the incorrect photograph being used or have you a downer on poor old PT462?

They have missed some fairly major airframes off it. 2 spring to mind very quickly.
Having looked at it again the Hurricane info is a little off and I can see at least one Spitfire not listed. But some previously very quiet projects are listed.

Could there be a ‘Wrecks & Relics’ connection? 😉

Not another Warbirds survey, reminds me of the constant ‘Best of’s’ on the box, cheap article to fill the pages.
Researched a lot better this time though, some very up to date info in there.

I agree, Warbirds Worldwide was by far the best ever. You can still get Classic Wings in WH Smith’s, it’s also available in Borders.

FlyPast
Agree with similar comments. FlyPast has let it’s standards slip over the last few years or so. Seem more interested in simply banging quick articles out rather than spend a little time getting the research done. Not another Warbirds survey, reminds me of the constant ‘Best of’s’ on the box, cheap article to fill the pages. Having been an avid reader for years I think that for a serious look at historic aviation Aeroplane and many of the American publications beat it hands down.

I saw that too Daz, mistakes like that have been getting through far too frequently in Flypast recently…
