Merlin exhaust stubs

Hi – it’s me again with the Merlin exhaust stub fixation.

Anyone know which marks of Spitfire and Hurricane had which type of exhaust stub? I’m wondering iof they will match my Whitley ones.

Basic answer, as I don’t know too much about exhausts!

Spitfire MkI, II, V, VI and XIII had the ‘fishtail’ two-into-one type (or the majority of them did, anyway).

Mk VII, VIII, IX, XI etc had circular, six-stup set-ups, although some obviously had the ‘flattened’ style exhausts.

I’m pretty sure the Hurricane (all marks) had the two-into-one type, although could be wrong.

Doubt this helps, but I could be wrong!
