As a poor student it has been a wee while since I bought any of the British aviation magazines (about a year or so). I usually flickj through them in the shop and replace them on the shelf.
Today I was doing this, and I noticed that the price has jumped SIGNIFICANTLY. Flypast and Aeroplane Monthly’s price usually fluctuates here due to the exchange rate going up and down (yes, they do come down in the good exchange periods, which is unusual because nowt else does!). On average they are around NZ$12.95 I guess, and usually the two magazines are on a par price-wise.
Today i saw that (despite this being a good period for the NZ dollar) Flypast is NZ$15.95! And worse still AM is NZ$19.95.
Why have these jumped so high in price? Is it purely the NZ distributors making a killing? Or have the cover prices jumped in the UK too? They put a sticker over the UK price in the shop I was in so I couldn’t check.
Sometimes each mag can be picked up for $9.95, and I had never seen either more expensive than $14.95, at the worst period for the NZ dollar. Today makes me wonder, who’s making the big bucks off these mags?
I’m just glad I have this forum to glean all the news from. I can nay afford such luxuries as these nowadays

I think the UK cover prices are roughly the same at the moment, eg around £3.40, so that works out at…
$9.49 NZD
