Fantasy of Flight, Florida

Figured I’d better start a new thread. Who knows the other one might just get back on topic someday!

Let’s start with hangar 1:

Going back to the Storch, is it a MS.500 , and if so, might it be it be the old G-AZMH?

According to the museum’s site it is an original German built Storch that was restored in the US.

I’d be happy to post a couple of them…..the problem is I’ve been moving the past two months….all of my archives are in storage so it’s hard to find anything at the moment. If you have a collection of FlyPasts one or two of my shots were in the either October or November 93 issues or somewhere around there and in the first few pages.

When I was down there in September the B-24 was being cleaned up for a retouching of the paint. I don’t think it was going to be anything major. It was interesting to see where the pressure washer had revealed some of the Indian Air Force markings though.

I put some pictures up a few months ago. Look in the file called Florida B-24.

Great photos!

Wow that B24 is looking a bit battle worn! The Sunderland looks in good nick but is showing some signs or corrosion?

Did you happen to see anything of Kermits Lancaster project?

Not Mystery Aircraft
‘This one’ is an Aussie Avro Cadet, IIRC, very rare about 4 survivors worldwide.

The other is an N3N (Opps, Mexican Bob got there first.) OK so another fact – Yanks Air Museum, Chino has a dozen or so, inc one restored on a single float setup.

The last time I visited the Marauder was indoors, that was in May 2003.

Well its cheaper to go to Florida for a week than fly from London to Scotland to go to East Fortune on a weekend !

That is the same Connie….She is my background shot on Windows….a great pic of her landing at Fantasy of Flight. Rant: What a shame my Marauder has to stay outdoors, where she has been since Jan 1991….A true shame, she deserves to be inside. So many fond memories of her at Chino….including the best, August 5, 1993 when I became the first to shoot her air to air!

The one you couldn’t identify is a Navy N3N biplane. (sort of like a stearman with a metal fuselage)

And this is a nice one to end with (the shiny P-51 is already on the other thread). The wind had died down by now and the An-2 is just landing. There are two grass strips there arranged in a cross, and the Starliner just fitted with a couple of feet to spare on the longer strip.

If I get bored behind my computer next week I could do something similar with Tom Reilly’s museum/restoration outfit in Kissimmee, or some shots from the Collins Foundation B-24 and B-17. Let me know if there would be any takers for that. All photos are from 2002 by the way.

now where did your post go

Sorry Here it is:

Great pics Archer! TOP!:D One of the best museum-tours I ever got!

But at photo number 6 you can see a bucker Bu133 jungmeister and a bucker Bu131 jungmann. NOT a Fw44 Stieglitz! 🙂

Do you have a photo of the Stampe SV4C from this museum?

Thanks.

And this is from the restoration shop. I already posted the P-38 on the other thread, they were also building a Fokker Dr1 replica and restoring a Stearman and a Vultee Vigilant in there.
