Hi
I’m researching the death of my uncle, Lawrence Thompson, who was killed in an accident in August 1944 in the Atlas mountains while flying G-AGIR, a BOAC Dakota.
I’ve just been given a copy of AM for September 1975 which has part 3 of an article called ‘BOAC at war’ in it. Has anyone got copies of AM parts 1 and 2 which could be copied? I assume thety would be in July and August 1975. I will of course reimburse any costs.
Thanks in advance
Nige

PS If anyone has any photos or info about BOAC Daks or Whitchurch airfield (Bristol) then I’d be delighted to hear from you.

Hello Nige!
I believe I have copies of those two – at my parents loft. I will check tomorrow evening. Scan and e-mail, if you like.
Best regards

BA do indeed hold the archives and have supplied me with some info.
(When my uncle died, his wife was expecting a baby – She was adopted and grew up looking for her birth family – I wrote to the archivist at BA, as she had, they put us in touch, et voila, she now has her family and I have a cousin…!)

Thanks for the offer I’ll keep it as a last resort…!

Hi,
As far as I know, BA have their predecessors files and archives, going back to Imperial Airways – anyone sure of this? Try BA at Heathrow.
Beamonts on the Holloway road (London) are also good for old Aeroplane Monthlys. If all else fails, I’ve got copies and can photocopy, but it takes time… PM me, Nige, if you can’t get’m elsewhere.
Cheers

Anyone know if British Airways have held onto the archives of BOAC and BEA or have they been passed to a museum or record office?

Try emailing The Falconwood Transport & Military Bookshop at falconw@globalnet.co.uk If you’re in the UK. They have a good stock of old Aeroplane Monthlys.
