Trenton Halifax Update

Hi All,

Had a chance to visit the RCAF Museum in Trenton to see what process their Halifax has made. The fuselage is looking pretty much like an aircraft again..the center center is joined to the wings and the tail…so it is starting to take up a fair amount of space. They hope to have her moved into a new area this summer so that they can put the whole plane back together..

Here are a few pix

Two of the Mk. XVI Bristol Hercules look quite impressive now that they are hanging on the wings at their correct height. The level of details in the plumbing and wiring is quite amazing given that these engines will never be run again. Apparently is order to run the engines safely would require further tearing of the engine..mainly to see the crank..and it was not going to be cheap or easy… so they will remain quiet but impressive still!!

The rear end of the Halifax appears to be mostly complete now..The glider towing hook is still to be installed.

Yes I have to agree on the lack of updates on their website but it
certainly encourages one to visit their museum in person to see the quality of their work…

While the Halifax is still under restoration one really gets a close up view of all the crew positions in the aircraft. I never would have dreamed that I had a chance to access the cockpit of halifax. And once she is finished the aircraft’s interior will be pretty much for special guests only…so I would encourage those who can to visit the old girl soon…
