In Belgium, a Me109 is going to appear on airshows this year. The plane is a Me109 Buchon (C4K-131) registered as OO-MAF. It was used in the BOB-movie. Afterwards, it spent some time in the USA before it went to Belgium in 1985. The plane first flew after restoration on august 8th 1994 after nine years of work. Around 2001 enginetests were preformed. The plane never mad an appearance at any event until now. It is going to appear at Wings and Wheels at Ursel (Belgium) (see link below) on august 7th-8th and maybe (this is not confirmed yet) at Sanicole airshow Hechtel (Belgium) on august 8th. ๐
See this nice link:
If anyone knows other events where this plane will appear, please let me know. Is it going to appear in other countries around europe? Maybe…:D
Here are some pics of the plane I found on the net:

Interesting pic eddywinch82,
Update on the Vormezeele collection:
– Me109 still hasn’t flown yet! ๐
– Morane Saulnier MS505 is sold to a new german owner.
– A wreck of a Friesler storch has been bought and is currently stored.
– The only active airshow participent this year was the Fiat G46. see this link for some pics of its appearence at the Lelystad airshow:
http://forum.airforces.info/showthread.php?t=31165
The attendence of the Buchon at WAW was cancelled one month before the event took place. If some news about any progress on the Me109 (Buchon) becomes available, I will post it here. For now, I heard the tailsection needed a overhaull. So maybe more luck next year. ๐ฎ
Greets,

Sorry Roger S., But the link to the vormezeele collection is currently not working. As for the other thing you asked on the connie tread; the Buchon is based at militairy airfield of Braschaat in Belgium.
Some other planes of this collection ar NA T6 Harvard, MS505 (french storch), DH82, Stampe SV4, nord (french made)Me108 and a T28 trojan.
Vormezeele had a Skyraider, but sold this plane last year to the USA.
So, I hope this is a good answer for you?
Greets,
J.V.

She looks a bit sad, busted down and engine-less.

‘Nooky Booky’ is grounded and up for sale.
She has been sold – according to the LFAC – check this;

Scroll down to Feb 24th. She now resides at La Fertรฉ-Alais;
It’s in French, but I’m sure you’re all fluent…:rolleyes:

Propstrike,
There are no restrictions on European warbirds displaying in the UK, other than those which apply to every other permit to fly aircraft. One of the requirements is compliance with engineering oversight similar to the UKs CAP632 & A8-20 system. I believe the CAA restrict the time allowed in the UK to 3 months IIRC.

I know there were problems with European display aircraft taking part in UK shows a few years ago,but I think things were sorted out 2 or 3 years ago.There was still a decent French presence at Legends last year with the Corsair and Yak ‘thingy’ in attendance.
I think one reason we get fewer european Mustangs at Legends is because there aren’t any active examples in France these days-Jumpin Jaques is now UK owned and ‘Nooky Booky’ is grounded and up for sale.The only active P51’s on the continent that I can think of are ‘Double Trouble Two’ in Switzerland and ‘Damn Yankee'(Dutch?).

If this aeroplane were to be offered-up onto the European display circuit, would it not be subject to our CAA-imposed restrictions regarding licencing etc?
As I understand it, these new rulings have prevented the re-appearance of some of the ‘tastier’ France-based warbirds, such as the Mustangs which we used to see at Flying Legends.

This is good news. ๐ IIRC,she was last flown a couple of years ago and then put back into storage.She seems to have spent most of her time in storage since she was rebuilt.It’s worth noting that she retains some of her B of B movie mods,including the fake machine gun ports on top of the cowling and the subtly clipped wingtips.
As an aside,I believe she is the only surviving Buchon never to have suffered a serious accident,all other survivors have had to be rebuilt atleast once after an accident-not a great record. :rolleyes:

I don’t think the buchon flew often. I can’t find any photo of the plane in the air on the net.
Has anyone seen this plane fly in the past? I wonder.

It’d be nice to see this Buchon up with the Real Aeroplane Company’s one.
I seem to remember this one was meant to be flying at the RIAT 2000 show at Cottesmore, along with ‘Bf108s’ G-ETME and G-ATBG, and they were meant to attack the airfield before being seen off by the local Spitfire and Hurricane contingent. It didn’t happen, unfortunately ๐
