If anybody, like me, has been chasing this aircraft for 20+ years it is currently on a lorry at Booker-Wycombe Air Park. Or at least it was on Friday. Will go up there Sunday morning, and report back.Just need the other Black Knights T33 now!

I was informed yesterday that the wing from WGHB is being used on the T-33 at North Weald. I was also told that when Ormond had WGHB, it was a much better aeroplane than the Black Knight T-33 with much lower hours. I wonder why Bob Thompson had OAHB made airworthy & not WGHB?

This was posted on avi8.com from pmills;
‘This aircraft I believe is for sale.
A friend of mine was quoted price of 10k last week’.

How she might have looked if Ormond had lived.

I actually stopped at Booker at lunchtime whilst i was passing. I can’t believe that after the past 3 years of being told it is under restoration to fly & that last year at Duxford i was told by several people that it was close to being finished and expected to fly by the end of the year, that it should turn up like this. Bearly 30 years ago it was airworthy and on the display circuit.
If there has been some confusion regarding the T-33 that was under restoration, i’d like to know what one it is. Unless they are using the wings from WGHB as there is a little bit of damage to the fuselage but i looked inside it and i thought it looked quite clean.

Thanks for those, damn shame to let it rot.

I checked out G-WGHB today and the airframe is in a state and wont be flying for some time, if ever. There were no wings present, it is engine less and has no seats fitted, looks like just a shell.. Could not see into the cockpit but I guess its not good. Hopefully it will not be left to rust like the Lightning and Hunter.
Here are some photos from windy Booker

Tom,
I take it doesn’t look like a flyer to be then?

Hello folks, as far as I know there are no certain plans for this airframe, the owner could well have a buyer for the wing(s) but nothing is finalised as yet. If anyone has any spare xmas money maybe you could have your own T-33 in your garden 😉
Tom.

That sounds like the North Weald T33 at the time registered N36TH, however it’s transition th G-BYOY was not a smooth one and it now sits in open storage at North Weald.

Paul – I believe she is parked up at North Weald and unlikely to fly in the immediate future. I will hunt her identity down.

G-OAHB is at Duxford in it’s original Canadian scheme, N13240 (from memory) met with an accident after it returned to America. I’d be interested to know more about the plans for G-WGHB though.
