I drove past the Burton TA base today and the Lightning F3 nose has had some panels taken off and their was a big skip thing set up next to the lightning.
Also the Lightning has been put on a kind of trolley and removed from the concrete it was stood on.
I think it might be getting scrapped as it was in bad condition when I had a sneak look round it a while back 🙁

Have checked and apparently it’s being “renovated” not scrapped!
Must be a hell of a renovation if you need a big skip nearby:D 😀

Yes, scrape it down, sand it, apply a bit of polyfiller and slap on some dulux and Bob’s your Uncle.
Or did you mean ‘scrapped’ ?

This lightning is owend by 351 sqd ATC and as such it should still belong to the RAF hope it’s not getting scrapped.
