Hi everyone
There has been lots of talk about a defiant in loch ness over the years – does anyone out there has a copy of the sonar image which shows it. It would be interesting to see it in the flesh – as far as I know there are no records of any defiants having gone down in the loch.
Thanks

Just a thought, but did any of the high-tech sonar scans looking for Nessie pick up outlines that may be the resting places of these Loch Ness aircraft?

Yes, well – i’m sure there’s something there!
What aircraft do you ahve down for loch ness? I have read of an Oxford and heard about a B17 as well.
Cheers

I have neaver been able to verify this story. I have the Defaint Crash Log and the Defiant File and can’t find any ‘likely’ subject aircraft, though 5 aircraft (including the Brooklands Wellington) are believed to have crashed into the Loch
Methinks this is either a miss ID or that a number of sea ditching Defiant crashes, including one ‘known’ about further north in Scotland (war grave) are the source of this story and that Chinese wispers or the reason
But quite happy to be proved 100% WRONG as I am on the Ethopian Seafire story as well!

Re the Defiant, If you can narrow the area down a bit I could do a sweep with the magnetometer.

Better still is their anyone on this board with a copy of the Defiant Crash Log that can look up if there were any that crash into or near Loch Ness.
I have no knowledge of this particular area as it is well outside my research area at the moment but interesting all the same.
