Dear Dan
After a few problems over the last few days with us having to pull the web page on grant this is fantastic news We thank you so much for that picture and you hit the jackpot as thats the aircraft that Wng Cmd Grant was killed in we think and to which the memorial service on the 28th will be dedicated to.

Thank you from all at Thameside Aviation Museum

I knew I’d seen one 65 Squadron Mustang III photo but I couldn’t for the life of me remember where. So after a long dig through all the Mustang books I found it in “P51 Mustang in Color” by Larry Davis. Not the one you are looking for, but it at least shows the markings well.

Roger Freeman’s Mustang at War has a couple of photos of 65 Squadron Mustang IV’s taking off, some silver, some camo. No Mustang IIIs however 🙁

Seeing as you are getting blanks, a couple of suggestions:

Have you tried the Australian War Memorial? Some RAF stuff there, and there’s lots online – www.awm.gov.au

And I presume you’ve taliked to the RAF Museum & the Imperial War Museum?

Hi Colin,

I’m afraid I can’t help you here. I’ve been looking all over for Mustang pictures from 65 sq. and so far I’ve come up emty. I’m sure they are out there somewhere, trouble is, finding them!

If you have any luck finding pictures of 65. sq. Mustangs, I would be very interested in seeing a picture of YT-B. It was flown by ‘Tony’ Jonsson.
