151sqn Hawker Hurricane DZ-B

Hi folks,
I’m currently building an Airfix Hawker Hurricane Mk.1 and I’d like to finish it in the markings of ‘DZ-B’,the aircraft flown by the North Weald station commander Gp.Cpt. Victor Beamish during the Battle of Britain.I’ve just finished reading Doug Stokes’ excellent book about this extraordinary man and I’m absolutely amazed there hasn’t been more written about him.
What I need to know is the serial number of his Hurricane as the book only identifies it as ‘DZ-B’. I could ideally do with a photo of his Hurricane to use as a visual referance, although I realise how unlikely it is for a photo of it to survive.
Any info would be gratefully recieved and I might even post up a couple of pics of the finished model in due course. 🙂

Hi Geoff,
Top notch info as always. 🙂 I’d like to build DZ-B as it was the machine he flew for most of the Battle, but if nothing turns up as to it’s serial number etc,I’ll go for one of his 249sqn machines.
Many thanks Geoff.

Ant,

‘Aces High’ Vol 2 says Beamish ‘was allocated a 249 sqdn Hurricane V6615/GN-B until this was damaged in action on 18th September 1940. He then flew V7507, also GN-B until this was damaged in the collision on 7th November 1940. He was lost in Spitfire Vb W3649/FV-B’

Geoff.
