Anybody here got any artists impressions of the Saunders Roe Dutchess?

Nice looking project.
Just after the war they thought that flying boats were the alternative to building runways across the empire. This was obviously part of that era.
Shame really.

Which, taken with his request for an artist’s impression suggests that it was a development aircraft in the same family as the Princess (Both being British ranks of nobility) that didn’t make it into the metal.

UNWORTHY GENTILE! HOW DARE YOU CHALLENGE MY DIVINENESS???
But that makes sense! Of course it is “Duchess”. In a book I have it is called “Dutchess”, but then it’s a French book. And now I also have found those artist’s impressions:

Talking of spelling errors, and we all make them, is it time to tell ‘Topjun Regret’ why he was perhaps rejected? 🙂

Do you mean the Princess flying boat?
A quick google found this image and the following quote, certainly one which I’ve never heard about
“Aero Spacelines, Inc., has obtained options to purchase two English-built Saunders-Roe Princess Flying boats from the still-unidentified European company which recently bought the three existing Princesses from the British govenment. Aero Spacelines plans to submit an unsolicited proposal to NASA to convert the flying boats into turbofan, land-based aircraft to haul Saturn rocket stages. (Text from Aviation Week February 3, 1964)”
