Hiya, query comes via a friend who was at Middle Wallop when it was bombed in August 1940. In the programme, ‘the Erk’ (I forgot his name) mentions a WAAF under the hangar door, with arm poking out and her watch still ticking. My friend says that no WAAF’s were killed. I know that 3 609’ers were killed, trying to close the hangar doors, and I think that some (how many?) civilians were also hit. Anybody got any further details? Also, what squadron was the erk from please?

Try sending the production company, RDF Media, an email at contactus@rdfmedia.com
I’ve recently sent them an email re the prog. Got a nice email in reply, with a promise that they’ll get back to me with an answer, so they seem helpful people.

The gentleman’s name was I believe Roddis? or something like that. He was with 234 Squadron at Middle Wallop. If anyone has any idea how I can contact him I would be frateful as an old neighbour of mine was an airframe rigger with 234 in the Battle and told me several stories of the bombing.
