Unknown TFC Spitfires

Can anyone shed any light on the ID & fates of these Spitfires seen in the TFC hanger?

These two were photo’d on the 18/4/90. Just visible on the left edge of photo is NH799.

In my third photo, the Spitfire on the left hand edge of the photo is EP120, the Spitfire facing away from the camera must then be SM832, and the Spitfire facing towards the camera should then be NH799.

Cheers chaps.

I’d say it’s SM832 as it has the absolute front of the fin as part of the fuselage, rather than just being the tail unit as I believe it is on baby Spits. I could very likely be wrong though, it’s been known before…

I think you’ll find the Spit you’re talking about is low backed 😉

The 3rd photo down – the Spit facing away from the camera is the one Mark must be SM832 (I wouldn’t know, myself!)

Mk V,

Which Spitfire are you saying is SM832? If it’s the second photo from the top, then the high-back Spitfire on the left, with the white info board in front, is definately NH799, as per caption, it being marked on the a/c.

The high back Spitfire fuselage must be SM832 (G-WWII) prior to being sent to HFL for completion.

The complete Spitfire in the background is Mk VIII MT719 prior to leaving Duxford for Micheldever.

Year:1991?

These look like the two Tempest fuselages of Ted Sinclair.

Jumping forward to 11/3/93, another two unknowns. The Spitfire on the left hand edge of photo is EP120.

Mike j & drm075, looking at the photos, I realise now that they aren’t Spitfires. Were they used for spares recovery, or do they still survive?

A view from the other side, and a better shot of NH799. Note markings on the panel fwd of cockpit on the front Spitfire of the two unknowns.
