Not only that, but they were the youngest airframes too.
Most MR’s are in the XV serial range, while the AEW’s were from the XZ range.
Well, if the project had not been cancelled, it would have made sense to have plenty of life in the AEW’s.:(

You learn something here every day.
I never realised there were that many Nimrod AEWs built before the project foundered. 😡
Thanks for posting that, sad though it is.

I saw one display at one of the last Hatfield shows.
Decidedly odd looking thing. Hard to believe there’s a Comet in there somewhere.

Somewhere I have a shot of the other side of the field covered in VC10s in plastic covering.

What a waste of airframes.
Why on earth didn’t they deconvert them?

A scene possibly to be repeated with the “new” MR4s?

Yeah, looks like a massive allergic reaction to the grass that those Comets were parked on and they all swelled up in various strange places….
Someone head to the chemist and get something for swelling and allergies….

Those aeroplanes REALLY don’t look well, if you ask me. Someone needs to lance those boils. :p
