Just rummaging around in the archives, this was when Harvards were in vogue. You cant find one on an airshow listing nowadays.

Ok, just want to let you guys know that I saw some web page the other day for the Udvar Hazy facility, and they were showing what looked like D-AQUI as being theirs now, along with a VERY clear photo of it in those markings….and the page also said something briefly about them operating it on pleasure flights (this D-AQUI is the former Caidin machine ‘Iron Annie’, D-CDLH)…it’s all very confusing, but I’m sending my brother in Washington to find out here soon what the story is….

Yep, it’s the one in the top pic, now stored by Kermit Weeks in Florida. Nice to see the pic though, do you have any others?

any idea what happened to this one? hopeless photo taken at Blackbushe 19??
By: mike currill - 10th January 2004 at 04:49
that is correct, or at least it was a couple of years ago. I am not aware of their current status. There are, or were, also three still flying in South Africa up until a few years ago. Again I am not aware of their current status, I do recall that they were reduced to 2 after on of them suffered a No 2 engine fire and I’m not sure if it ever flew again or was canibalised for spares for the other 2.
Apparently they were operated by SAA for pleasure flights as were the Swiss ones and D-CDLH which you guys keep referring to as D-AQUI, yes I know that is the registration she should be using as her call sign as she was D-AQUI before she was sold to Norway as LN-??? in the 1930’s

Lufthansa still operate D-AQUI,Mark. 🙂 There’s now also another airworthy one in France,F-AZJU,which flew again last year after many thousands of man hours of restoration. I think there are still three flying in Switzerland aswell.

Hey, is Lufthansa still operating the former Martin Caidin JU 52 D-AQUI, or is that one still flying? Thought I saw that it was now in the new Udvar Hazy facility in Washington, DC! Someone clear this all up for me…I thought she was still slying!

This is the former Aces High Casa 352, G BFHG, didn’t it wear that scheme for Piece of Cake.
The aircraft is now owned by Kermit Weeks, but I’m not sure where he keeps it.

Ah but Chris, you forget that I was there to watch the practice displays at Woodchurch on the Saturday 😉
Very little time was spent with the Mustang on the Sunday, most of it was taken up with marshalling the visiting aircraft and re fueling the display aircraft, good fun, probably the best show I attended all year.

No harvards!!!
Little Gransden 2003, Superb 2 ship ‘Harvard’ display (please forgive me not totally up on Mk’s/versions etc)
I particularly loved the ‘Fools Rush In’ nose art, now thats one for your Jacket!!!:D
Little Gransden was a real highlight for me this year, id recommend the smaller airshow/fly-in’s anyday. Rougham was also superb too.
