You mean this real one inside?

An excellent museum by the way. Well worth a visit.

Cheers

No, I just wouldn’t think a Spitfire owner worth his or her salt would keep it “dirty” like that! Plus there are no trim tabs on the elevator…

Hi Daz, the trim tabs are molded into the elevator but there are no control rods to them, also the elevator is never in that position when on the ground, if a control lock is fitted then the elevator is held in the ‘full up’ position.
When I was at Soesterberg the museum there also had a ‘plastic’ Spitfire. The real one inside the museum did donate one of it’s MLG to me for MK732 after it’s accident in the 90’s

No. haven’t seen it. Going to buy one of those very soon. Understand they are on sale now (in the UK, not here in Holland). Wanted to buy the weathered one, but now I might go for a “fresh” looking one. BW Roger

Speaking of weathering, I don’t know if you’ve seen the Corgi die-cast Spitfire Mk1a (19 Squadron “QV-K” version), but the weathering on it looks all wrong to me

The cordite streaks on the wing undersides don’t start at the wing leading edge, but rather at the cartridge ejection ports, nothing on the uppers, and no chipped paint on the wing roots – other than that, it’s a cracker!

I like the dirty look of it. It’s quite convincing, most visitors don’t see the difference anyhow. BW Roger

I knew the tailwheel was probably there – I was just kidding 😉

Obviously a replica, yes?

No, the spinning prop is “3W-S” . By the way, the tailwheel is still there but not in the shot because there was a red/white fence around it, and in shooting it this way from a small hill, I got rid of the fence (and the undercart). BW Roger

😮 Write up a black for the Pilot Officer who ripped the undercarriage doors and the tailwheel off that poor Spitfire!

Isn’t it that one with the spinning prop that was on the forum sometime before?
