…and the Spitfire is…

correctly indentified, as you’d expect, as MH 434. Both this and the Me109 were taken at Wattisham Open Day in 1989.

Did anyone see the programme on Sky last week about this Spit? I thought it was interesting.

Seasons greetings to you all

The Spit in first pic is ‘434,you can tell by the rounded rudder. She was painted in this high-altitude scheme sometime in the late 80’s,before TE184 was flying.
Incidentally,MH434 was used in an episode of Poirot at about this time, and there are some good low level flying sequences. The basic storyline was that the designs for a new type of fighter (the ‘Mayfield Kestrel’) had been nicked from the designer’s home and blah blah blah.Worth watching if only for the Spitfire bits. 😀

Merry Christams and a Happy New Year to all!

I thought it was Spitfire Mk.XVI TE184 in the first photo…

The late, lamented OFMC Buchon, G-BOML, the aircraft that Mark Hanna lost his life in back in 1999.

I had the great opportunity to see this plane being put through its paces with Spitfire IX MH434 over East Fortune five years ago – simply awesome!

The attached pic shows the plane in her final paint scheme.
