I found this picture while going through my albums earlier this evening. I’m not really ‘into’ Hellcats and I’ve no idea which Hellcat this is. It was transiting through Reykjavik in 1995 – 1996 IIRC, but I have no further knowledge.
Where is it now? Is it still flying?

“It was Flying A that brought the Hellcat to North Weald, it spent the years after Doug passed away stored in America prior to being ferried to the UK.”
Thanks Yak,I should’ve realised that myself. For whatever reason the date Galdri’s pictures were taken didn’t register with me last night-1995/96 was some three or four years after Doug passed away.

Yeah, it is a bit strange to own such a beautifull machine and lock it up behind closed doors. From another thread I understood that it is not even certain if Paul Allen has ever seen his own collection! If I had anyting like his collection I would be like a kid in a candy store.

I can’t give serials or registrations, but I know it went to Doug Arnold’s Warbirds of Great Britain collection. She hardly ever flew after delivery, and went ‘into hiding’ along with the rest of the fleet when Doug died. She was sold off by Flying A Services and exported a couple of years ago and is now part of Paul Allen’s secretive collection.
I can’t work people out,if i owned something like that i would want everyone to see it,why hide it away, bit like like owning a masterpiece then sticking it away in a box,why why why?????
