Found this whilst surfing. I’m a bit skint at present so I can’t get it. Thought this would interest you lot. I’d like to see it go to a good home.

Just a thought. Maybe it could cover things that are stolen like the ME110 tail fins that went missing a few years back.

Surely everyone knows about the Halifax hen shed.
Locally to me there was a me109 cockpit being used as a small greenhouse. Also an old avro or wellington being used as a shed.
Well said Ant about illegal wreck recoveries.
But a database of missing items is impossible to maintain.
1 how would you know they were missing in the first place.
2 how many thousands of wreck sites are there to cover.
3 there are still bits waiting to be found at wreck sites all over.
I would suggest you contact the seller and if you are not satisfied with the answers contact the MOD if it is in Britain and let them investigate it. This will show if it is an illegal wreckologist group or not. Also I dont know what the legal stance is with selling bits on. I understand the Protection of Military Remains act states that you have the title of the items signed over to you if you list them in the items recovered to the MOD but after the title of goods changes hands you are not allowed to make any kind of finacial gain on them. So take that how you will.

Yep, there is a write up about it in Flypast a couple of issues ago. It looked in extremely good condition.

Actually, a few weeks (months?) back that happened in the Netherlands. I believe it was a Stirling, but I might be wrong.
The shed was covered with plants so the owned did not realise his shed was a fuselage. It wasn’t untill he cleared out the junk from the shed that he saw he had something odd. A local historian recognised it and informed the local airbase (Twenthe?). They sent a team to salvage the “shed” and it will now be part of the airbase museum.

The pedals are not Typhoon parts. They look to be of the Fury/Sea Fury type to me.

Seriously though. I like the websites on wreck sites. Should there be some sort of gentlemens non-disclosure agreement about the location of some of these sites.
If people are going to nick things, they will whatever you do up to a point, however let’s not make it easy for them.
I read www.pacificwrecks.com with horror about some of the stuff that goes on over there when it comes to things disappearing.
OK some people have to scrap things to put food on the table, but that is a different matter.

Maybe we should have some sort of database of items that have gone missing to allow us to check things like this. It would mean we are protected & we could help recover items. There seem to be some every couple of issues of Flypast. They must go somewhere.
I wonder if webbie could set this up. Add stolen items to the database if you see them reported missing in your local/national paper. If you see something at a car boot sale or on the web you can check it out.
What do you reckon ?

Sorry to be a bit of a damp squib, but I have my reservations about buying stuff like this over the net.It might be an idea to contact the seller to try and find out the piece’s history, how they got hold of it etc.We don’t wanna go funding illegal wreckage recovery.

Be better than the usual 2 fecked Flymos and loads of paint tins .

I suppose it is nice to know there is still stuff out there. Maybe someone has a Stirling in their shed.
