Hi Dan,
I have been very impressed by the profiles that you have done recently and was wondering if you might be able to produce one for me.
The aircraft that I am particularly interested in is a Spitfire LF MkIXe, ML350. This aircraft served for a short period (5 May – 30 June 1944) with No. 317 (Wilenski) Sqn as JH-X. As far as I can ascertain, it carried standard markings with only the Polish badge as an added extra. This, as you probably know, was on both engine cowlings, below the exhaust stubs.
I would also like it to be shown as it would have appeared on June 20, 1944. On that date, it would have had invasion stripes applied. As far as I can ascertain, the stripes would have been of the wrap around style over rear fuselage surfaces and wings, rather that just the undersides, as was the later custom. There were also many variations of applying the stripes. Some obliterated serials and markings, others were carefully painted around all existing markings. There is no photographic evidence about how they might have been applied to this aeroplane. If possible, I would like to retain all markings over the stripes.
It would be much appreciated if you can assist with this. Many thanks.
Regards,
Laurie.

Hello Dan,
What do you use to creat your excellent profiles ? They look like they were generated using some sort of computer package.

Dan,
Many thanks. Hope you weren’t too tired for work I am still trying to pin down one or two finer details regarding this aircraft. If I may, I’ll come back to you later should any changes be needed.
BTW, if you are having trouble getting colours right, send me a PM with your e-mail address. I have a 1944 Ministry of Aircraft Production colour standard chart which you might find helpful. I’ll e-mail a copy to you.
Regards,
Laurie.

OK so I lied. I’ll be tired for work tomorrow, but once I got going on fixing a Spit to make this one work, I kept going. I hope this is close to what you were looking for Laurie.
Let me know if and what needs to be fixed. Thanks to Mark V I think I’ve got the roundel and fin flash colors closer to the truth 🙂
