Vulcans XJ823,XL360 and XM597

Does anyone know wether or not either of these vulcans have their systems powered up regulariy or not? I am going by pics in Osprey books VULCAN Last of the V Bombers. From the outside 823 looks to be very well looked after and I was wondering if it was ever made live? XL360 looked like she was due for a repaint and 575 looked about the same but had wheel covers on.
Any info would be great

Dont know if they power up the electrics-cant remember if anthing was lit up when I visited the inside a few years ago.

Watch this space!!

I have heard some interesting things recently and just because the place is listed it doesnt mean that NO new building can go up at all it means there has to be far more considerations than for a non listed place.

If they get a Concorde it WILL be put inside. Also I gather everyone has heard of the money EF will be getting.

XM597 has had a heater and dehumidifier in the cockpit area for a number of years which helps the situation.

Thats great andrewman..

Great news on 823!! It will help the airframe overall if her elctrics are kept running.

looked pretty complete to me. No obvious holes or anything, but I didnt have a long time to look. Seemed to be reasonably dry as well, but I’m not an expert, and as I say, it was a few years back.

597

So… they dont keep her electrically operational then??

What do you mean by…

Wish they could get her in out of the cold, but that’s another story

597 sits in the same position she has since she arrived in 1983, and as far as I know, has never been run up since then. MOF do the best they can to keep her respectable and have allowed visitors in the cockpit on special days. Been there myself and its impressive. Wish they could get her in out of the cold, but that’s another story.
