What relevance has a Sea Vixen to Tangmere ? Were they ever stationed there?

Well, its certainly not ours!!
Poor old XJ565 is looking a bit sad these days, and needs a lot of work to make it really good. Corrosion is beginning to set in, and there are quite a few missing parts.
The example at Duxford is one of the better museum ones, having remained undercover since delivery, and not having been restored at all.
The Bruntingthorpe aircraft is also pretty good, but as it lives outside, it must be starting to suffer as well!
Lastly, when I looked at the example now at Midland Air Museum, when it was at Hawarden, it was in superb condition. I hope it has remained so!

Talking Sea Vixens, there were a few airframes sitting rotting away on RAF North Luffenham in the late eighties. Anyone know what became of them, or whether any of them are still there? They also had a Hunter sitting there with a Lightning-type nose cone on it. Still extant…?

The Hall of Aviation jet could be made airworthy without any major hassles. It was one of two that was discovered by chance, stored in a soon-to-be-demolished hangar at Eastleigh (Southampton) Airport many years ago 🙂
The Museum is looking to move to a new location in Marchwood, and I think plans are slowly moving forward.

The Sea Vixen at The Southampton Hall Of Aviation is in superb condition.
Can’t remember its serial tho!????
It came down from Brooklands earlier this year. The owner was shamefully treated by Brooklands. Won’t be going to Brooklands again!
As an aside Hall of Aviation is a super museum with some very unique artifacts, well worth a visit! i had heard that they were looking to relocate i hope thats going well for them.
Oh and G-CVIX has been brilliant this year,seen her a few times and enjoyed every show. I hope they can keep the Red Bull sponsorship for next year. i know the paint scheme upsets the purists however it looks awesome and if it keeps her in the air then you can paint her pink for all i care!!!!:)
