Thank you for the kind remark about my pictures. I like yours too, especially the one of the Spitfire and Mustang where the pilots appear to be looking at each other and not where they are going a few hundred feet up!
‘Flares’ one is good too. Mine was taken looking almost into the sun.

Went to both Little Gransden and Duxford and the P2s were different. Its funny how i made a comment to my partner at Gransden about not seeing any for ages and how nice it was to see one again, it may have even been as long ago as the late 1980’s or early 1990’s at North Weald the last time i saw one and then you see two different ones in a couple of months!

Pilatus P2

I thought it was a cracking show, always think there is a good atmosphere and especially if you get that “autumn gold” from the sun.

I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed seeing the Pilatus putting on a display, very well flown by John Romain (according to the commentators). In the years I have been visiting Duxford I have seen it put in one of the back hangers and had my doubts it was airworthy. I was just wondering last time it put on a Duxford display, I believe it went to Little Gransden recently, but it must have been many years before that?

It must be a lovely aircraft to fly and couldn’t help thinking that it isn’t that big a step up from a PA28-181 😉

Yeah I saw Neil Oliver I guessed it was him from the long hair. I think the pilot of ‘Ferocious Frankie’ may have been Nigel Lamb? It was the closest thing to a Ray Hanna display Ive seen yet, going so low and so fast, awesome!

Really good show, funny how the weather is always spot on for the Autumn Airshow, I can’t remember bad weather for this particular do and I haven’t missed many.
My Hungarian guest was well impressed, not only with the flying, but with the museum too. It was interesting to walk round the LWH and have him explain the different riding characteristics of the various Soviet vehicles, having trained with the Red Army while serving with the Hungarian military during the Cold War.
Just a few questions.
We spent a lot of time round the hangars and missed a lot of the initial commentary, though I did spot various bits of RazorBack P-47 in the restoration hangar, when does the rest arrive.
We were on the flight line and saw the wingtips being removed from Sally B and realised there was a problem, I gather that an engine had blown, how serious is it.
I gathered that there was a bit of banter about the Vulcan, were we given the hint that it may fly next week.
We were in front of the Polish spitfire wondering why an army of photographers were snapping 2 old dears sitting in chairs, then realised that Neil Oliver of ‘Coast’ fame was lurking between them, what was that all about.
The flying was great, particularly the bad lad nearly parting my hair in the Hellcat.
Who was flying Ferocious Frankie, some pretty aggresive stuff going on there, and was the formation with the F-16 unrehearsed, no reason why not with such skillfull pilots, who were they by the way.
Interesting to see the BBMF Spitfire taking part in the tailchase with the Buchon, quite unusual for them we thought.
Thought that the finale with the Sukhois was magnificent, all in all a great day, and getting out wasn’t too bad in the end.
Prize of the day went to the bloke wandering about in the Luftwaffe officers uniform, especially when he spent 10 minutes in the toilet rearranging his moustache, we were crying with laughing and had to get out fast, Solly couldn’t understand why the crowd weren’t offended and thump him one, I had to explain about the British sense of humour!

Final count was 1707 of which 250 were rubbish including 9 seperate pics of people on step ladders!! or was it just me that this keeps happening to?

but i had better now start saving for next years airshow season as the prices seem to have gone silly £6.50 for a cold Burger and chips! so next year i am taking a picnic.

But as always the flying was great but my display of the show has to go to the 2 Black cat lynxes.

566, about 564 of which are rubbish.

Lovely to see the Nimrod/Hurricane partnership, among other things.

What a great show, i had great fun and loved the Belgian F16 display and the heritage flight with the F16, P51D & spitfire was a pleasant surprise and goes to show it is not just the Americans who can do this.

But now i have over 2000 photos to troll through and delete the bad ones and the one’s with people on step ladders in them 😡

So here is one for those who did not go.

Gates opened at 9 for the BBMF day, after a bit of coaxing, could be earlier today, weather check on Met Office site looks excellent.
Am about to make some butties, and load up the car, look out for the Hungarians again, they won’t leave DX alone.

Well like I said we were late 😉

Anyone know what time the gates open? Doesn’t seem to be on the website.

From the DX web site

The gates will open at 8am and the flying is expected to start at 1.20pm and finish at 4pm.

When we were there for the BBMF day the gates opened at 10am but we were late anyway so it didn’t matter 😀 so we’re just going to aim to be there for 10ish again and hope for the best haha:D

……Maybe bump into some of you down there, just look for the 6’5″ northern monkey cautiously cradling his equipment.

Given that description, I think people will be giving you a wide berth;)
